The Great Smoky Mountains are located in western North Carolina and eastern
Tennessee. Elevations range from 800 feet to over 6,600 feet.
Scientists estimate that they only know about 12% of the plants and animals
that live in the Great Smoky Mountains Park.
Rainfall ranges from 55 inches in the Lowlands to 85 inches at Clingman's
Dome.
